ABOUT
THE COMMUNITY
The Caribbean Community of Practice for Health Policy and Systems Research (CoP4HPSR) is a network of researchers, health professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders in CARICOM, who are committed to building Health Policy and Systems Research (HPSR) capacity in the Caribbean.
BACKGROUND
Since the inception of Health System Global (HSG), Global Symposium on Health Systems Research, it was observed that there is need for greater production and use HPSR to inform Caribbean health decision-making.

The University of the West Indies' Caribbean Centre for Health Systems Research and Development (CCHSRD) was established in 2018 to pursue a program of work in HPSR to address pressing policy and system issues. The CCHSRD has four core functions: i) execution of HPSR; ii) knowledge translation activities; iii) citizen engagement; and iv) health human resource training and development.

CoP4HPSR is a vehicle to support CCHSRD’S work program, especially related to HPSR production and use.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of CoP4HPSR are to:

Build HPSR capacity in the Caribbean region;

Share knowledge about health system issues and HPSR;
​

Strengthen relationships among peers through information sharing and support;
​

Connect researchers from different disciplines (to promote greater interdisciplinary research about the health system); and
​
-
Provide an open and free environment for collaboration between health decisionmakers and HPSR researchers.
